News from the Inn

On March 15 the New London Day featured an article about Jerry Albrikes, winner of the National Platform Tennis championship, and one of the winners of the Shoreline Classic at the Shelter Harbor Inn in March. Click here to read the full article.

The editors of Yankee Magazine honored the Shelter Harbor Inn in the 2009 Editor's Choice edition of "Best of New England." We were bestowed a Lodging Award as "The Best Place to Play" in recognition of our Inn's amenities, including our two paddle-tennis courts, a croquet court, our private beach, hot tub and our cozy library. (From the Westerly Sun)...Congratulations to Tom Koppermann, one of Westerly’s most distinguished bartenders, who just finished his 28th year mixing drinks at the charming Shelter Harbor Inn. Tom, another wonderful veteran of the “good old” Ocean House, is a gem of a gent and a topnotch professional to boot! May you enjoy many more wonderful years, Tom!

Our guests will be happy to know that we have upgraded our rooms with a new heating and cooling system that allows guests to set their rooms at a temperature suitable to their individual comfort level. It is also 40% more energy efficient than our former method, so we are pleased to report that the transition is environmentally friendly as well!

The most recent photos of the Carriage House show off the new cupola and 3 feet have been added to our chimneys. The chimneys have been rebuilt in an attempt to eliminate the smoky downdraft in the rooms of the Carriage House.
